Brandi Johnson might be one of the most fashionable people I know. When I would run into Brandi in Houston when I lived there, I would immediately do a mental scan to assess if my fashion game was up to snuff. She's one of those friends that inspires you to pick out your best outfit. I met Brandi in the education world but she has since spread her wings and answered the call of fashion and has become a fabulous stylist.
I admire so much about Brandi's entrepreneurship journey. She took a leap and did something very different than education. Brandi was trained by Stacy London of TLC's What Not to Wear fame and has built a style coaching business. I also really appreciate the focus of Brandi's work being on dressing the body you have. Brandi helps us see that we all deserve to look good in our clothes. We might have to look in different places but with Brandi's help we can find what works for each of us. I love witnessing the women Brandi works with gain confidence and appreciation for their bodies.
So much of the messaging we hear as women is that our bodies should be different and we should desire being smaller. I appreciate that Brandi says eff all that. The work that Brandi does isn't just about clothes - it's helping people to love their body more so we can find beautiful things to wear. https://buff.ly/49cAsak
This #BlackHistoryMonth, I'm celebrating 29 Black women who have influenced me through the ways they pursue their own liberation. Black women's work is often unrecognized and not cited, and this month I'm determined to pass out a few flowers to Black women. #Day10 #29LoveLettersToBlackWomen #GiveBlackWomenTheirFlowers
